Can Survival Horror Make A Mainstream Comeback? - Adam's Rant

GamingUnion: "So Capcom's latest round of boasting includes their expected sales figures for Resident Evil 6, which they expect to hit around 7 million copies and everyone is all abuzz about Shinji Mikami (the designer behind the original Resident Evil title) creating a true survival horror experience instead. When looking a bit further afield, we've had some pretty decent survival horror games recently too. Dead Space 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and F.E.A.R. 3 were all enjoyable enough games, and at times scary in their own right. But are these titles are hardly representative of the state of survival horror, and Resident Evil's success shouldn't be taken as a sign that the genre is flourishing amongst the masses. Quite the opposite, it feels like each new generation of horror games does more to streamline the fear and do away with all of the limiting factors that make survival horror games so much fun to play. So where do we turn to for games that are more psychological thrillers than they...

Velocity PS3 Attitude Mini Review

PS3A writes: "Well, isnt this a neat mini surprise? As is often the case with the Minis, I was content to let Velocity slip through my net. Why Are Metacritic Gamers So Fussy and Full of Rage?

Charlie writes:

"Have you been on Metacritic in the past, oh I don't know, 2 years? You may have noticed that whilst actual sites have expressed great truths in a video game, the users of Metacritic have, how shall I put this, a different form of speech.

Why We'll Never Get A Decent Street Fighter Movie

GamingUnion: "As the poster boy for defining solid 2D fighting gameplay, Street Fighter is also perhaps best known as the poster boy for why making games into film was never a good idea. Having two spin-offs and eradicating the respect of certain actors (Kreuk, Julia, no Van Damme doesn't count), it seems a curse looms over the depraved idea of a silver screen pickup. The common argument is that filmmakers should stick to the established material when it comes to crafting live action adaptations. While this theory can apply to other gaming titles, just how much of it can be administered to Street Fighter?"
